The Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences (KJMS) , is the official publication, peer-reviewed, of Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan. Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU, originally known as Kaohsiung Medical College ) was formally established in 1954. Apart from being the first private medical university in, the KMU has also become an important cradle for highly-skilled physicians and medical-related specialists. The KMU put its full attention to the steadily evolving areas of basic medical science and clinical medical research. It has therefore laid a solid foundation as the leading medical institution in Southern Taiwan.

The KJMS was launched in 1985 bearing the same goal of the KMU to promote clinical and scientific research in the medical sciences in Taiwan, and to disseminate this research to the international community of medical and health care professionals. It is published monthly by Elsevier.

The Journal aims to publish original research and review papers on all fields of medicine and related disciplines that are of topical interest to the medical profession. Authors are welcome to submit reviews, original articles, short communications, and letters to the editor for consideration.

The KJMS is indexed in SCIE, Medline, ScienceDirect, Scopus, EMBASE, Elsevier BIOBASE, CAB Abstracts, Index Medicus, GeoAbstracts, BIOSIS, SIIC Data Bases, Nutrition Abstracts & Reviews and Global Health.
