The Journal of Acute Medicine (JACME) is the official peer-reviewed publication of the Taiwan Society of Emergency Medicine.
Taiwan Society of Emergency Medicine (TSEM) is currently an active member and co-founder of the Asian Society for Emergency Medicine
(ASEM). Among the 8 members, TSEM helped to establish the first Asian emergency medicine residency program in 1991 in Taiwan. Since then
we have trained more then 1,500 emergency medicine physicians, more than 1,400 of them were qualified for emergency specialty board certification
through board examinations in the past 20 years. TSEM's previous official Chinese title journal was a leader for high quality research
papers from our extensive members and allied health professionals in Chinese speaking region.
The JACME is published quarterly
by Elsevier. The Journal aims to publish high quality scientific and clinical research in all fields of acute care medicine including
emergency medicine, critical care, trauma and health policy with the goal of promoting and disseminating medical science knowledge to
improve global health.
Taiwan's national health Insurance system, managed by Bureau of National Health Insurance (BNHI) is world
renowned for its extremely low monthly rate and unlimited doctor visits, including emergency medical services. There are near 97% of
population in Taiwan participate in this program, the poor and those who have certain major illness or diseases listed by the BNHI also
receive discounts on co-payment charges. This program has contributed to the highest annual visit rate in ambulatory and emergency cares
per person than any other country in the world. This JACME is the entrance to understand and study the world appraised emergency
medical service system in all aspects.
