This journal aims to provide its readers with a swift, yet complete, current awareness service. This is achieved both by the scope and structure of the journal, key features of which are:-

• Careful selection of relevant abstracts (and other bibliographic data) from the latest issues of 4,000 leading international biomedical journals.

• The arrangement, within each issue, of abstracts into separate chapters devoted to a specific topic. The journal covers all aspects of air, soil and water pollution, noise hindrance and radioactivity as related to the general environment. It includes chemical pollution and its effects in animals, man, plants and microorganisms and sewage treatment. Information relating to microbial water pollution is excluded as this is covered in Section 17: Public Health, Social Medicine and Epidemiology, as is material on air and water pollution in the work place as this is covered in Section 35: Occupational Health and Industrial Medicine.

• Detailed author and keyword indexes to allow the reader to locate items of special interest.
